A wonderful, sensual and stimulating set by the great Trish Murphy as she visited Europe and ended up on the legendary 12 Bar Club, London stage. In this most intimate setting you are up front an close with this amazing talent. She reminds me a lot of Terri Hendrix who is also from Austin music family. Better still is after this set she sits down with the amazing Kevin Montgomery in and over 2 hour duo! She is a power to contend with and with her amazing voice, ample guitar picking and lyrics to get you into an other world, this is a set not to be missed!
Who is Trish Murphy
Trish Murphy is an Austin, Texas singer, songwriter, chef, writer, champion of girls empowerment and member of the band Skyrocket! She appeared in the Austin City Limits Music Festival twice and has released four records
In 1996, Murphy relocated to Austin,
n 1996, she moved to Austin to nurture a solo career and became one of the fastest rising musical stars in Texas, releasing her recording Crooked Mile independently in 1997. In 1998 and 1999, Murphy performed as part of the Lilith Fair tour. Murphy released the recording, Rubies on the Lawn on Doolittle/Mercury Records in 1999. A live recording, Captured was released independently in 2001.
Her discography now includes three solo albums, two of which she recorded and released on her own label. Crooked Mile was released independently in April 1997 to critical raves. National distribution soon followed, along with constant touring throughout the U.S. and Europe. Tour highlights included a week with Lilith Fair, a great solo set at the 12 Bar club along with an amazing double set with Kevin Montgomery..
She then released the CD, Rubies on the Lawn which got national press, mainstream radio airplay and more international touring, including a return to the Lilith Fair in its final season. Captured, released in late 2001 as she was returning to her Texas roots in a stripped-down, live acoustic setting like here at the 12 Bar Club, doing what she does best: telling stories and shooting from the hip.
Murphy has performed twice at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, and in Italy, France and other European countries. Murphy’s music features story-telling and personal expression. In her own words, the challenge to her songwriting “is to evoke as many images as possible with as few words as possible.”
Murphy made her 2005 record release, Girls Get In Free which combined Murphy’s music with a cause she now supports as the CD release party benefited GENAustin, a non-profit outreach program that helps middle school-aged girls develop strong self-esteem. Murphy is also a member of GENAustin’s Board of Directors.
