Description
The Cucumbers Live At Acme Underground, NYC
The Cucumbers start this performance with a sort of kumbaya moment as they all gathered around center stage to chant and bring their beings into alignment. From there on it is all Cucumbers as they lay out their songs as true mistrals with an aura of high energy. Deena Shoshkes vocals are a real pleasure. Her voice is soft and full bringing a real feeling of soul. They just do not miss a beat. This full set of great music is well worth the price of admission.
Who Are The Cucumbers
The Cucumbers are an American power pop band from New Jersey, founded in Hoboken in the early 1980s by husband-and-wife duo Jon Fried and Deena Shoshkes. During my years in Hoboken from 1995 to 2002 The Cucumbers were an establishment in the Hoboken music scene. Frequenting Maxwell’s as well as playing at the festivals. But like all souls have moved on and out from Hoboken to the suburbs of New Jersey to give more attention to their children. They have not given up playing music and you can still catch themLostConcerts.com database has the also playing another gig for us and you will find it coming online soon.
Ricks Music Archives is proud to present The Cucumbers at Acme Underground for OnlineTV by Rick Siegel July 24, 1999 for CMJ Music Week. Filmed by the late great Mark Pines it was the second year of OnlineTV.com broadcasts of live bands every night and specially on music weeks like CMJ or Apple Music Week. This was the last year we broadcast from Spiral and this particular week we broadcast the festival from both venues.
