Description
Sid Griffin and The Coal Porters From OnlineTV archives
Sid Griffin came by several times to play at one of our clubs in London, England, the 12 Bar Club on Denmark Street. He was lucky enough and happy to be part of our efforts to bring live broadcast to the Internet and we were happy to bring his concerts to everyone around the world.
Sid had, and has, a long and legendary history. Former Long Ryder and Coal Porters front man he is legendary in the US and many remember him in the UK from his days in residence and playing 12 Bar Club. Sid plays a stunning set of old time Bluegrass and the video includes all the intimate banter you would expect if you went to a show in a small venue. Up close and personal.
The legends of Sid Griffin – Long Ryders, Coal Porters, etc.
Sid Griffin led the Long Ryders band in the 1980s, founded the Coal Porters group in the 1990s, has recorded several solo albums as well he authors and sells books to capitalize off other artists like Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons and bluegrass music. Sid Griffin is beyond a great voice and guitarist, he is proficient with, mandolin, harmonica and auto-harp.

Sid Griffin Band members for the Sep 99 set:
Sid Griffin – Vocals guitar and 12 String guitar
Pat McGarvey (from Scotland) Bass and vocals
The September 1999 recording has Sid doing a solo gig for the first 37 minutes and then a duo/band that might be considered the band Western Electric. I picked Sid Griffin Lost In This World as the short taster, a fitting choice.
