Who is Sam Obernik
Sam Obernik is a Dublin-born, London-based chanteuse like our Gamine. These days she is known for collaborations with dance artists Tim Deluxe, Linus Loves and Alex Gaudino.
Sam Obernik is a constant presence on the U.K. dance music scene, singer/songwriter Sam Obernik has been an in-demand guest vocalist for some of the genre’s biggest names. Born and raised in Ireland, Obernik began her career performing Prince, the Rolling Stones, and the Waterboys‘ songs on the streets of Dublin with the Frames’ Oscar-winning vocalist Glen Hansard.
After relocating to Los Angeles in her early 20s she settled down in London to start out on her own. During this time she performed under her own name and built up a loyal following and she performed for our OnlineTV broadcast from 12 Bar Club. This video is part of the period just before her meeting Tim Deluxe and providing the vocals to his track ‘It Just Won’t Do‘. That single went on to sell over 250,000 copies and Obernik became a dance music queen.
Where is Sam Obernik today
Sam formed the group Barefoot along with Tommy D. Barefoot released an album of the same name in 2006 which included reworkings of 12 dance classics including ‘Born Slippy’, ‘It’s Like That‘ and ‘Hideaway‘. Over the following years, Obernik continued to collaborate with other mainstays of the music industry including Alex Gaudino on the 2007 track ‘Que Pasa Contigo‘ as well as Paul Harris from Dirty Vegas and Dave Spoon on 2008’s ‘Baditude‘.
