Rosie Brown takes off into an absolutely mesmerizing concert with the tightly knit fabric of her band lofting her high into a musical realm that can only be understood once you hear her music. With the genius song writing and arrangements of Bernd Rest you can feel the roots of his jazz, blues and folk interwoven in each song.
It is astounding that two decades later the band remains the same lineup as these sets. Perhaps it shows the harmony that these people bring to their music extends to the very core of their life. You can see that this band is happy together and it is something deep within. Harmony is something wonderful and that is what you can find here. Bravo Rosie Brown!
Who is Rosie Brown
London/ Brighton based Rosie with her luscious vocals, intriguing lyrics, incredible musicianship and delicate arrangements have won this singer-songwriter and her band a high profile on the UK’s live-music scene.
At their South London studio, Rosie Brown and Austrian guitarist and co-writer Bernd Rest have set up Stück Records, where they recorded and produced their critically acclaimed début album, By The Blue (2001), Clocks and Clouds (2004) and their 2009 release Strange Recollection.
Weaving folk, jazz and blues influences, with glimpses of Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake and vintage John Martyn, the band expresses a musical sensibility all of its own. Drawing on country, 60s surf and classical, this is beguiling and intricate music, animated and funky, full of emotion. Songs with surfaces light and shimmering, evocative of landscape, love, loss, darkness and light.
