Peter Bruntnell Live At 12 Bar Club London
Peter came to the 12 Bar stage with a quartet of support musicians. His smooth country styling matched with unwavering vocals got the room rocking. Driving guitar solos, solid bass and drums augmented by Bruntells’ amazing voice, like rolling along on a wave over the grain fields. It is not until well into the set that he sets about rocking and rolling, but that just makes the concert grow to its ultimate climax. The set includes a really stunning encore as the crowd just did not want to see him go.
Peter Bruntnell is a British singer-songwriter born in New Zealand.
This concert was in support of his 1999 release of Normal For Bridgewater
“They (Bruntnell songs) are painstakingly crafted, and even the most punchy and immediate of them don’t sound like they were thrown together particularly quickly. At their best, you could describe them as examples of “pure” songwriting – in so far as they don’t really work as poems on a printed page, nor do they sound like they could easily be made into screenplays or novels or short stories: they could only ever be songs, and nothing else.” Angus Batey
“Peter Bruntnell not only lays claim to an impressive series of albums, but also to the rare ability to avoid repeating himself, making s each new effort a memorable encounter in and of itself. His latest effort, Nos Da Comrade, is another outstanding candidate for universal appeal, one just waiting for an American label to take notice. Sadly, that can’t be banked on, even though he’s an earnest folk rocker with a solid sixties sensibility. As a steadfast troubadour with a singular perspective, he stakes a claim on romanticized imagery and executes his arrangements with a nary a false move to be found.” Lee Zimmerman
