Lach – The King Of Anti-Folk At 12 Bar Club, London
I have known Lach as the king of anti-folk since 1996 having frequented the Sidewalk Cafe and his nights “The Fort.” What great times! Lach always provided a great show with rising stars and wannabees every night and the best were on weekends. He had open mike nights so that every artist had a chance to show their chops. I was there for many amazing nights and the place was mostly full with talent scouts and alternative rising record companies in attendance. Incredible outrageous talent like Zane Campbell hung there! He also started the Anti-Folk Festivals in the summer. I have all those recordings in my archives but it will take time to get them out to the public.
But this is about Lach as he ventured to the United Kingdom to play to the hungry crowds of rock jaded fans. I am pretty sure this August 13th show was his first at 12 Bar. It was a short sort of introductory set. His Aug 16th show was a few seconds short of an hour and spans a huge swath of his songs as well as a sort of anti-rap, which I took for the video short below. It seems that Lach liked the UK a lot and settled down there in the last decades. Man time flies. Anyway, he has never let moss grow under his yarbols so he continues to expand to encompass all. Power to you Lach!
Lach is a wonderful refreshing totally invigorating musician and in these solo shows he takes you into a realm of music that he created. Enjoy!
