Julie Anne McCambridge Live At 12 Bar Club
Julie Anne McCambridge came to the 12 Bar Club for the OnlineTV.com global broadcasts back from 1999 to 2001 as she finished her first release “Stars and Mud.” Many of those tunes can be heard on these recordings. I have a total, so far, of 4 performances. So far I can present 2 on this page with more to come. Her performance brings you to cathartic moments, both highs and lows of life explored. You cannot ignore the powerful vocals and intense guitar. It reminds me of Sam Obernik and Rebecca Hollweg.
We are proud to offer this collection of videos to the public. Bringing great acts to the stage at 12 Bar and broadcasting them around the world is a joy and privilege. Bleeding edge technology from OnlineTV.com Internet broadcasting systems and working with clubs that brought great new talent to the world was and is a dream come true.
Who is Julie Anne McCambridge
The uncanny voice of Julie Anne McCambridge is a force of nature. Not so much the leaf-cutter ants and acorn weevils bit of nature. The big stuff. Lions. Wild boar. The mighty wildebeest. She is a powerful and innovative singer-songwriter who can floor an audience with a whisper and a holler. Julie Anne sang for a living in the streets and cafes of Prague and Antwerp before settling in London and recording her first album, “Stars and Mud”, in 2001 with Neil Pickles of Reveal Sound. A residency in Covent Garden’s Cafe Baroque cemented her reputation as a rare performer of original material. A stunned Paul McCartney broke off a conversation about pork chops just to listen to her classic “Skyscraper”… Spotify
Where is Julie Anne McCambridge today
After busking in Berlin as the Wall was battered and performances in the mud of Glastonbury, Julie Anne is now back home in Scotland. There, when she’s not singing to the seals and learning sea shanties, she is working on an album concept featuring songs that give a voice to the various distinct parts of our psyches.
Her album, “Nature Makes Amazing Shapes”, was recorded at the Funkhaus studios in Berlin in 2016. The album arrangements feature an exotic array of percussion, including radiators, step ladders, and Louis XIV dentures. Imagine P.J Harvey singing with Tom Waits’ backing band on a beach where the No Bathing sign is broken and everyone’s in the water. That kind of party. The kind you remember.
