Description
Hank Dogs Live At 12 Bar Club, London
Hank Dogs took the 12 Bar stage like it was old home week at the OK corral. Andy Allan wearing his big cowboy hat and Piano joining in the laid back atmosphere as they both just came as they are. The music was fantastic and they went through their songs with a real zest for everything. The Aug 13, 2001 performance was really a duo as they sometimes included Andy’s daughter Lily Ramona in the gigs but Aug 13 they were as the duo (Andy and Piano). It was nice to see how they played off of each other and worked to accompany in both melodies and instrumentation. If you want to see all three Hank Dogs then you need the April 2001 concert.
It should be noted that there is another Hank Dogs concert in the main archives of April 2001 that has all three of them in it for 53 minutes and includes an encore! A really great set too but I can’t get anyone to do the work it takes to encode, color correct, sound work, and hosting the works from tapes and make the videos available for free, so sad people want to eat. Great news! I was able to get this concert encoded, rendered and exported to enhance the reach of The Hank Dogs in the hopes this will help the release of their latest 2024 CD & vinyl. I encourage you to get their latest and greatest! With Lily’s expansive abilities their sound just goes beyond expectations. After all their latest release comes 23 years after these live concerts!
Who are Hank Dogs
Hank Dogs are an acoustic folk band from South London. The folk styling of Hank Dogs came together in 1992 with singer/songwriter Andy Allan (formerly of Lightning Raiders and The Professionals), arranger Piano, and Andy’s daughter Lily Ramona started to gig together. They produced their debut CD in South London as Andy lived in London for some time but ventured to Seattle with producer Jon Kertzer to use the Bumbershoot Festival as a launch for his CD and perhaps a US tour. He brought the Hank Dogs with him and prepped the group with their big debut release Bareback. This recording was a critical success; the music group received a standing ovation at Bumbershoot and Hank Dogs then toured the U.S. Their CD Bareback was called Record from the Month by WXPN in Philadelphia. Four years later on, the Hank Dogs scored a coup with attention from spinART and released Half Smile in 2002.
