Description
Deanna Varagona At 12 Bar Club, London For OnlineTV
Deanna Varagona joins a wide assortment of great female artists who have taken the stage at 12 Bar and archived here at Rick’s Music Archives. She reminds me a lot of Emma Tricca, Suzi Ragsdale, and almost a twin of Beverley Martyn. Here in her 12 Bar Club performance she played to the audience solo and gave a jolly good show to the Brits. This set, just short of an hour, let’s you visit the artist in an open warm environment where she truly enjoyed playing to the receptive audience at 12 Bar Club. Deanna’s voice jaunts along with highs and lows while staying true to tone. Through all the soft wafting songs you can also get a glimpse or why she could also fit into a group like Lambchop, which is a lot rougher in tone.
Who is Deanna Varagona
Deanna Varagona’s solo debut release, Tangled Messages shows Varagona, a talented multi-instrumentalist, who paid her dues as a sidewoman and collaborator for Nashville-based Lambchop and also has teamed up with Vic Chesnutt and Chris Mills, but here she emerges as a strong musical personality in her own right and knows exactly when to step into a song and when to just haunt it, and the attention she lavishes on every nuance of her layered but uncluttered arrangements makes the listener aware of the skill while not punching them in the face with it.
Where is Deana Varagona today
