Bob Cheevers Live At 12 Bar Club London for OnlineTV

This 12 Bar Club set, over an hour of it, is peppered with witticisms, amazing stories, and an openness not often seen with such a star. Inside an intimate club like 12 Bar Club in London you cant find a better venue to get up and close with such a performer. What can you say when a legend like Bob Cheevers comes to your stage to broadcast his show to the world? Here I present one of the greats with over 5 decades of amazing music under his belt.

Cheevers sings tales of romance and catchy tunes that have his personal view of the world. There are characterizations of people who were caught up in situations like life during the Civil War to the simple day to day struggle of life on earth during any time period. His root blues flavored tales come right out of Bob’s Mississippi Delta soul as he sings songs that expand from here to beyond.

Who is Bob Cheevers

Bob Cheevers, born and raised in Memphis ended up moving to California after graduating college. In California he signed a deal with Dot Records and appeared as the frontman of the bubblegum group Peppermint Trolley Company. Though scoring a minor hit with “Baby You Come Rollin’ Across My Mind” and issuing a self-titled LP on Acta in 1968, the band was perhaps best known for performing the theme songs for the hit television comedies Love, American Style and The Brady Bunch. When the Peppermint Trolley Company disbanded Cheevers worked as a staff songwriter with a variety of publishers including MCA Music and Cobra Music as he continued to perform at area clubs. In 1991 he made the decision to quit his drug use, and wild side, as he moved back to Nashville and eventually won the Kerrville New Folk Competition. In 1997 he issued his comeback LP, Gettysburg to Graceland, followed in 1999 by The Stories I Write.

In the summer of 2007 Cheevers released the CD “Texas To Tennessee” signalling a move from Nashville to Austin. He spent sixteen years as a songwriter in Nashville’s country music scene which was preceded by his 25 years in the pop field out in California where there were major publishing deals with MCA and Criterion Music along with two music videos which won a total of 8 Emmys including “Best Musical Composition” for Bob’s song “Big City Gambler.

Bob Cheevers was a Johnny Cash tour opener, Winner of prestigious Kerrville New Folk Competition, Winner of Napa Valley Folk Festival Songwriting Award,
Emmy Award for Music Video of “Big City Gambler,” and sang the theme song to Love American Style as member of Peppermint Trolley Company

“Bob Cheevers is one cool scarecrow gypsy poet who writes and sings the romantic beautiful truth. When he releases a record, I listen.” – Ray Wylie Hubbard
