Description
The Cogs Live At Spiral Lounge CMJ Week
The Cogs powered onto the Spiral Lounge stage during the CMJ week of 1999. It was funny how 5 people could work so well on that small stage but this power pop band did an amazing show. The energy of Kris Cog, vocalist, and the synergy of the band stood out as Kris moved the action to each of her band mates. CMJ promoted The Cogs as the best band of the 1999 music festival and they really did a great show.
Where are The Cogs
The Cogs were from New York City and are made up of five diverse individuals who took power-pop to new heights. Sounding like a cross between The Muffs and The Pixies they thrilled audiences for almost a decade. Shortly after this recording the band lingered on for a year or two then went blank. No further information about the singer, bass, or anyone except the drummer, Beto Hale.
Who is Beto Hale
From teaching himself to play drums by jamming along to Beatles records as a kid, to producing, singing, and playing multiple instruments on his recent studio albums, Orbs of Light, and “No hay marcha atrás” Beto Hale is a one-man band. Hailing all the way from Mexico City, multi-instrumentalist Beto Hale started playing with local bands in his ‘tweens. Shortly after he graduated high school, he was recruited as a keyboardist for the iconic Latin-Pop group Timbiriche. Beto has his own website and is still very active.
